Mandurah resident Jodie Moffat is throwing her hat in the ring for the Canning seat in the 2022 federal election.
Running for the second time, her campaign comes from a desire to fight for climate action and wanting children to have the same quality of life she had growing up.
It's a passion Ms Moffat has held since she can remember.
"My entire life I've been an environmentalist - it's something I got from my mother," she said.
This ethos eventually led her to a career in law. She has worked as a civil litigation lawyer in Mandurah for over a decade.
"When I did go to study law it was because I felt there was a lot of injustice in the world and I really wanted to understand it at a nuts and bolts level of how that came to be," Ms Moffat said.
"Part of that study I did was on environmental law and climate."

Writing papers on climate litigation and making international shipping sustainable, Ms Moffat said she had a desire to use her knowledge more effectively.
"I thought the only political way I can use this knowledge effectively is within a party that listens, appreciates, and agrees with what you have to say," she said.
"The only party that does that is the Greens."
Other than wanting action on climate change Ms Moffat said she was passionate about more GST funding coming back into WA, getting dental and mental health care listed on Medicare, providing more support for affordable housing and aged care.
"There is such a huge ageing population in Mandurah that needs more support and care," she said.
"My mother has dementia so my parents moved up to Perth to get the kind of care and support they need."
She also made mention of prioritising education in Mandurah.
"There's little support for people unless they have the finances to have their children educated to Year 12."

When asked what her overall goal was, Ms Moffat said she wanted to provide hope for future generations.
"I don't see that we have politics at the moment that is giving any hope or encouragement to people - I don't like the politics of fear mongering," she said.
"There really is the possibility for our children's lives to be positive, sustainable and fulfilling."
