A man has been charged after allegedly injuring a woman while taking a toddler from her in northern NSW. An amber alert was issued late on Friday after the 61-year-old woman was allegedly injured outside an office in Coffs Harbour, and the two-year-old boy taken away by the man. Members of the public made multiple calls to triple-zero after witnessing the incident about 2pm, with some trying to intervene. The boy was found almost 300km away in Tenterfield about 11.30pm. A 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Tenterfield Police Station. He was charged with taking/detaining a child with intent to remove them from parental control, reckless grievous bodily harm and breaching bail. The woman was also charged with taking the child and breaching bail. The pair, who are both from Tenterfield, were each refused bail to appear at the Tamworth Local Court on Saturday.
