Mandurah will likely have two-way movement along the foreshore between Smart Street and Tuckey Street.
According to a report to the council, the continual one-way movement of traffic and on-street parking on that section of Mandurah Terrace has restricted access to shop fronts and the foreshore.
The council endorsed a number of officer recommendations - including the two-way movement - to make it easier for pedestrians and traffic to access the city centre and improve traffic flow in the area.
The changes to the road network will see Mandurah Terrace connected to Sutton Street via Tuckey Street and Barracks Lane, creating a loop for traffic to have better access to one of the city centre's most popular pockets.
The two-way street on Mandurah Terrace will also have a formal one-way connection from Smart Street through to Barracks Lane.

Modifying the roads is expected to provide visitors with an anti-clockwise network around Smart Street and Barracks Lane to make it easier to locate parking and encourage people to walk through the precinct.
This is expected to add more permeability to the road network and is anticipated to impact traffic pattern in the area.
Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said the proposed road changes aligned with what the council envisioned the city centre to look like in 10 years.
"We have a bold vision for Mandurah's future...a place that increases the accessibility and liveability of its residents and visitors," he said.
"Our vision for transforming Mandurah is in full swing, providing the perfect opportunity to modernise the city centre...it is vital that our road system adapts to the changing needs of this transformation, making it even easier for residents and visitors to move around Mandurah's most popular places."
Detailed design, costings, and delivery will continue after councillors endorsed the concept plan.
A broader City Centre Master Plan and a Parking Plan will be presented for council consideration within the next 12 months and council officers say they will continue to brief the council..
