If you've been driving around the Peel region lately there's a high chance you've passed through roadworks.
Works are currently underway on Old Coast Road, Mandurah Road and Pinjarra Road.
According to Main Roads WA spokesman Dean Roberts, the increased maintenance is occurring due to good weather conditions.
"A number of roadworks are predominantly undertaken during the summer season as warm, dry conditions are favourable to reduce the negative impacts of moisture on pavements," he said.
"In cool, wet conditions roadworks can take longer and be interrupted by rain events.
"Spray seal and asphalt works, in particular, can't be carried out during rain or if rain is likely as rain rapidly cools bitumen on contact, hardening the bitumen and preventing bonding of the aggregate or compaction of the asphalt."
Shoulder sealing work on Old Coast Road, from Preston Beach to Dawesville, has meant the road is down to a single lane.
The maintenance is leaving many stuck in traffic during afternoon rush hour.
Residents who take this road will be happy to know work is due for completion in late June, 2021.
A bus stop is also being relocated on Old Coast Road at Perseverance Boulevard. This work is set to be finished by early June.
Unlike the quick turnaround on work on Old Coast Road, intersection improvement work at Mandurah Road and Alverstone Boulevard will not be complete until October, 2021.
