Peel residents have raised concerns after speed limits were suddenly reduced at several traffic light intersections on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Main Roads WA spokesman Dean Roberts, the speed limits have been reduced to comply with new speed zoning rules.
"The speed limits were changed to comply with Main Roads' new Speed Zoning Policy and Application Guidelines which indicate that the maximum speed limit through traffic signals is 70km/h," he said.

With many local residents unaware of the sudden speed reductions, there have been calls for change of speed limit signs to be installed.
"Signage notifications need to be up if the speed has changed in those areas," one local resident said.
"They should put up a change of speed limit sign like they used to as it's been 80 (km/hr) there since I can remember," another Mandurah resident said about the Meadow Springs Drive intersection changes.
But Mr Roberts said there were "no plans to install change of speed limit signs".
With double demerits in place this long weekend, watch out for the speed limit changes at the following intersections:
- Pinjarra Road and South Yunderup Road
- Pinjarra Road and the Kwinana Freeway Off-ramps
- Pinjarra Road and Husband Road
- Mandurah Road and Meadow Springs Drive
- Mandurah Road and Lord Hobart Drive/Broadstone Vista
- Mandurah Road and Lake Valley Drive
- Mandurah Road and Madora Beach Road/Banksiadale Gate
- Kwinana Freeway off-ramps to Forrest Highway
