The first lightning strike in the first storm of the season has caused power cuts to properties in Dawesville, Bouvard, Herron and West Pinjarra.
Power went out in the southern Mandurah suburbs shortly before 12.30pm on Monday.
Electricity outages also occurred in Wagerup, Waroona and Lake Clifton just before 1pm.
The storm is the first significant storm front to move through south west WA since summer.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) at noon Monday upgraded the storm, with warnings of winds of up to 100km/hour.
BOM has now advised that heavy rainfall and damaging winds may lead to flashing flooding, mainly in coastal locations
Damaging winds are most likely to occur on or just ahead of the leading edge of the cold front.
Conditions will ease by mid-afternoon.
Another, stronger cold front will affect south west WA during Tuesday afternoon and evening and is likely to produce widespread damaging winds.
"Our emergency response units and repair crews will be in full strength this morning and throughout the day and are ready to respond to any emergency that may arise," a spokesperson said.
"We know that there is never a convenient time to be without power which is why we have continued our important works program to power the lives of our customers through the COVID-19 pandemic."
Power is back on in Dawesville. Estimated restoration time for Bouvard and Herron is 4.30pm. Estimated restoration time for Waroona, Lake Clifton and Wagerup is 3pm.
Estimated restoration time for West Pinjarra is 4pm.
