Mandurah COVID clinic to be based in Halls Head

Mr Kirkup took to Facebook to share the suburb the clinic would be housed in, which could be set up in the coming week.

"Heeding my calls, [minister for health Roger Cook] announced that a COVID clinic would be established at Halls Head shortly," the post read.

Mr Kirkup has been lobbying for a COVID-19 clinic to be based within Mandurah for the past three weeks.

"I think Peel Health Campus definitely needs one, particularly given the profile of the residents in our city," he told the Mandurah Mail last month.

"We know that coronavirus has a significant impact, particularly on the more elderly population.

"We have a population in Mandurah that, of a per capita basis, is older than the population of the rest of the state so I want to see a dedicated focus here."

Mr Cook announced a clinic would operate out of Mandurah last week, with local Labor MP David Templeman requesting a fast-track on the project.

"We are working diligently to ensure this COVID clinic is available to those in need within Mandurah and the Peel region," he said.

"I'm very pleased we will have a clinic here - it's extremely important given our demographic, particularly with the amount of elderly people that currently live in our city."
