Nominations to become a City of Mandurah councillor will be officially open from Thursday, September 5, ahead of the 2019 local government election in October.
Interested local residents with a passion for serving the community and contributing towards decision-making are encouraged to apply.
There are six positions available with one vacancy each in the Town and East wards and two vacancies each in the Coastal and North wards - all with four year terms.
Deputy mayor Caroline Knight will join fellow North Ward councillor Ron Wortley, East Ward councillor Shane Jones, Coastal Ward councillor Fred Riebeling and Town Ward councillor Peter Rogers on the ballot paper.
Former Coastal Ward councillor Tahlia Jones' term of office was also due to end this year, with her position up for grabs at the election but, after stepping down in June, the position has been kept vacant.
At a council meeting on June 25, a motion was carried unanimously to request the approval of the Electoral Commissioner to allow the vacancy of the Coastal Ward to remain unfilled until the elections are conducted.

Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said working for and with local government provided a unique opportunity to shape the future of the city.
"On any given day, we can move between a focus on infrastructure, waste and statutory functions, through to leading large scaled economic development projects, strengthening the community, and advocating to other levels of government to ensure we're getting our fair share," he said.
"It's so diverse and so it's really important that we have a diverse range of skills and experiences around the table."
Mr Williams added that being actively involved and representing the community at a local government level was a "privilege".
"It's a role that allows you to make a real difference in this place that we live and love, and where you can make a contribution to ensuring the future of our city is strong," he said.
"I wish all the candidates the best of luck in their campaigns.
"I'm looking forward to working together with those elected in October on continuing the focus of strengthening the future of our great city."
