Shape Mandurah are gearing up for their next Community Soup event, this time aimed exclusively at youth under the age of 18.
The event aims to bring people together who share a desire for an improved Mandurah.
Community members are invited to pitch an idea for a better town in the hopes of winning the $2000 prize money to go and make their dream a reality.
The rules are that those pitching an idea must talk for less than four minutes, cannot use a PowerPoint presentation but are allowed to use props.
At the end of the pitch, the audience gets to ask the person pitching four questions.
Once all the presentations are finished, free soup and bread will be served with the audience encouraged to mull over the ideas before voting for their favourite.
Voting criteria include viability, community building, vibrancy and place activation and relevance and clarity.
When the votes are in, the winner is announced and gets to take home an envelope stuffed with money to put their plan into action.
Previous winners have gone on to achieve amazing things, including purchasing drums for community drum circles and music nights.
Shape Mandurah hope to make connections between people to share their ideas and resources, help people feel empowered and instill some local pride.
The next youth Shape Mandurah Community Soup event will be held on Wednesday, May 29 from 6-7pm at Make Place.
