Ladies at Ingenia Gardens Seascape donned their best pink outfits over tea and biscuits, to raise funds to fight breast cancer at their Ladies’ Day on November 9.
Women in the community are playing their part to support breast cancer research, banding together to raise awareness and vital funds for prevention programs and support services.
Ingenia Gardens Seascape village manager Sonia Magee said the residents were looking forward to raising awareness for a cause that was close to many of their hearts.
“Coming together with friends over a cuppa is the perfect way to raise awareness and funds for such a great cause and our residents are looking forward to sharing the day with their friends,” Ms Magee said.
“Sadly, we all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease and with the risk of being diagnosed almost one in eight for women over the age of 85, we are determined to help any way that we can.”
Ingenia Gardens Seascape resident Margaret Meacham said it was a joy to socialise with other residents while supporting such a worthy cause.
“I have known quite a few ladies that have been impacted by breast cancer – it affects all ladies, families or friends in some way,” Ms Meacham said.
“There are so many ways you can show your support and build awareness – you don’t know who will be affected by the disease – you could even get it yourself so we need to help wherever we can.”
While enjoying a delightful high tea, residents and guests will enjoy a fashion parade by A Little Unique Clothing Boutique, along with a raffle and lucky door prizes.
Each month as part of its unique Activate Program, Ingenia Gardens encourages its communities nationwide to host and participate in local community events to help address social isolation in seniors.
