Students at Carcoola Primary School ventured off campus to Bindjareb Park in Pinjarra recently to celebrate local Aboriginal Culture as part of NAIDOC Week.
Carcoola Primary School officer Chantelle Thompson said the students listened to stories about local Noongar people before and after settlement.
Ms Thompson said they learnt about Aboriginal bush plants, traditional tools and weapons.

“We enjoyed walking the trails and learning the uses for food, fire and shelter,” she said.
“We also saw a hut made by local Noongar boys, and had many questions answered.
“We enjoyed tasting damper made by local elder Gloria Kearing who also provided a Welcome to Country at a school assembly.”
Ms Thompson said Australian landscape murals with Aboriginal art techniques on animals decorate the assembly area at Carcoola Primary School.
