The City of Mandurah will put community safety in the spotlight throughout October, with plenty of free activities throughout the city to encourage residents to step up to create safer spaces to live, work and play.
The Community Safety Month initiative is a joint venture between the City of Mandurah and WA Police and aims to increase the confidence of the community in a number of different safety topics.
On October 20, WA Police and the City representatives will be at Bunnings Halls Head to help locals install alarms in their scooters and anti-theft number plate screws in their vehicles for free.
The activity aims to reduce scooter and licence plate thefts in Mandurah and increase the community’s vigilance and awareness of good storage solutions for lightweight vehicles such as scooters and motorbikes.
Scooter and vehicle owners will need to provide proof of purchase and proof of residency in the City of Mandurah.
As part of Community Safety Month, residents will also have the opportunity to check out the new safety display at the Forum.
Between 9am and 12pm on October 27, residents will be able to get tips on community safety and crime prevention from local police team members and City representatives at the display.
City officers will also be at the Mandurah Children’s Festival between 10am and 3pm on October 29 to share more community safety initiatives.
Locals who wish to learn more about what’s going on crime-wise in Mandurah can sign up to the eWatch community, an initiative between WA police and Neighbourhood Watch, on ewatch.com.au.
By signing up to eWatch, residents will be able to find out what’s happening in their community and connect with their local police and the City to help make their neighbourhood a safer and more vibrant place to live.
The City said they continued to work with state and federal governments, businesses, community groups and residents to ensure community safety and crime prevention has a well-rounded approach.
