With just 48 hours remaining until elections close for the City of Mandurah council, just four candidates have come forward.
The City had received two nominations for the Coastal ward, which has one vacancy, just one for the East ward, which has two vacancies, one for the Town ward, which has two vacancies, and none for North Ward (one vacancy) and the Mayor's role.
In the City of Mandurah, aside from Rhys William's mayoral position, the positions of councillors Peter Jackson, David Schumacher, Lynn Rodgers, Merv Darcy and Matt Rogers are also up for re-election.
Cr Darren Lee's spot on council is also vacant after he resigned earlier this year.
Nominations close at 4pm on Thursday, September 9.
CANDIDATE PROFILES
Coastal Ward: BOB POND
A Falcon resident for 22 years, Bob has raised a family and contributed 10 years to junior soccer and 21 to the Peel Harvey Catchment Council. He is qualified in environmental management and works in the region; as well as running a bed and breakfast with his partner.
Coastal Ward: MERV DARCY
Mandurah resident for more than 30 years, he has served as a local JP volunteered for several organisations that support those most in need.
East Ward: Amber Kearns
Mum of three, Amber has spent 27 years in community development roles in federal, state and local community services. She is YouthCare School Chaplain at Greenfields Primary School and volunteers for community service groups and charities, currently on the board for Bridge Builders. Her family's local business sponsors and supports multiple sporting and recreational groups.
Town Ward: Stephen Carter
Stephen runs a local business and a non-profit (Pride in Peel) and says his focus would include making it easier to do business, building an inclusive environment, advocating for all-ability facilities and events celebrating all cultures and beliefs, and supporting the arts and entertainment industry.
