In 2019, the City of Mandurah council committed to a three-year trial of beach patrols during the summer season, making Mandurah beaches some of the most patrolled in the state.
The beach patrols at Pyramids, Falcon Bay, Town Beach and San Remo saw zero beach closures due to shark sightings, and eleven rescues from December 21 to March 31.
There were 79 minor first aid incidents with one major accident when a swimmer dove into the water and hit their head in shallow water.
The patrol is set to continue for a third season in 2021-2022, which is scheduled to commence in December until the end of January.
Surf Life Saving WA lifeguards will be patrolling three beaches during the season with SLSWA recommending reviewing the service profile at San Remo and diverting the patrol hours to align with higher beach attendance at Falcon Bay and Town Beach.

Following the January school holidays, from February the patrols will continue every Saturday until March 31.
There will also be patrols during Easter from Good Friday to Easter Monday.
These lifeguard patrols will complement the outstanding work of the two local surf life saving clubs (Mandurah and Port Bouvard) who will continue to deliver volunteer patrols on Sundays and selected Public Holidays during this time.
