A 35-year-old Rockingham man has been charged following a police chase through Perth's northern suburbs on Tuesday night.
At about 10:43pm police attempted to stop a Kia Sorrento on Morley Drive, after it is alleged that the vehicle travelled through a red traffic light near Flinders Street in Yokine.
It is further alleged that the driver failed to stop for police and continued through multiple suburbs including North Perth, Leederville, Mount Hawthorn, Malaga, Ballajura, Koondoola, Girrawheen and Westminster.
A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed and the vehicle eventually came to stop on Wanneroo Road in Nollamara. The driver fled on foot but was arrested shortly after.
A 35-year-old Cooloongup man has been charged with:
- Driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation)
- Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police
- No authority to drive - suspended (other than fines suspension)
- Obstructing public officers
He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
