Halls Head college has provided a unique experience for one lucky year 12 student who has been working towards her dream career of working in emergency services.
Hannah is a student of Halls Head College's senior school transition program (SSTP), and is also enrolled in a Certificate III in population health.
During her school week, Hannah was invited as a guest to observe the nurses administering the year 7 immunisations at Halls Head College.
Hannah was able to shadow nurses, absorbing information and real-life-experience throughout the day. The child and adolescent community health nurses took the time to explain both the practical and administrative side of nursing to Hannah as she watched their practise.
"Hannah's empathy and caring nature with our year seven students throughout the day made it evident she has chosen the right career pathway for herself," a college representative said.
Halls Head College principal Bronwyn White said the SSTP program was a meaningful way to propel students into their futures and gain real-life experiences in their chosen field.
"Our college privileges authentic learning pathways that ensure real world experiences are made available to students to their field of interest wherever possible," Ms White said.
"This ensures they build real currency, sharpen skill sets and make informed decisions about the best way forward for them."
