This year's Fairbridge Festival Quest songwriting competition will see the talented WA songwriter Carla Geneve as it's proud patron.
Carla was the 2015 winner and has gone on to win numerous other awards including WAM 2020 Song of the Year.
The 21-year-old will be releasing her debut album later this year.
For those wanting to follow in Carla's footsteps, entries are now open to 12-18 year olds in this youth songwriting competition. Entries close at the end of February, with finalists battling it out onstage at Fairbridge Festival on Saturday, April 10.
Carla said she was looking forward to attending the final and helping to support young songwriters.
An awesome prize package awaits the winners including: performances at Fairbridge Festival 2022 and Denmark Festival of Voice 2021, a recording session and photo shoot, WAM Song of the Year entry, tickets to WAMCon and industry mentoring opportunities.
Healthway director of Health Promotion Julia Knapton encouraged local youth songwriters to get involved in the 2021 Act Belong Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest competition.
"Through our partnership with FolkWorld young people will learn about song writing and the importance of feeling connected in the community," Ms Knapton said.
Folkworld general manager, Stuart MacLeod, thanked major sponsor, Healthway, and said of the song-writing competition, "Music is universal. It is something that unites us all, regardless of who we are and where we come from. Songs are the stories within that music. We have so many talented young people in this state and the Act Belong Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest is about nurturing that talent, bringing those stories to life and inspiring our next generation of songwriters."
