Local homelessness organisations have shared their excitement following the announcement of Mandurah as the location of the second Common Ground facility.
This model will provide a person experiencing chronic homelessness with access to permanent housing, which is linked with relevant support services to overcome complex histories.
Having everybody work together will be the benefit of those people there and will ensure the success of it.
- PeelConnect chairman Ron Withnell
With a high number of rough sleepers and a need for additional accommodation options in Mandurah, PeelConnect chairman Ron Withnell said the Common Ground was desperately needed.
"With the doom and gloom forecast for homelessness and the lack of housing and services it is one step in the right direction," he said.
"Our housing situation at the moment is not good in any way as there is currently nothing available - at least with the Common Ground it will have room for 20 people."

Mr Withnell said PeelConnect and other local homelessness agencies were planning to work together to provide the wraparound services needed at the facility.
"PeelConnect will definitely be involved with our mental health programs and counselling service," he said.
"Having everybody work together will be the benefit of those people there and will ensure the success of it."
Halo founder Dee Freitag held a similar sentiment as she said "anything is possible" with the right services in place.
"If it involves everybody from start to finish it will be really successful as I know our services down here are really great.
"It will help the homeless everywhere but definitely the ones that are in Mandurah.
"There is similar housing in Perth that has been doing really well - 40 per cent of our clients have gone up to that one and I've only heard good things about it so hopefully Mandurah does the same."
