Giant trolls are set to come to Mandurah next year in the hopes of attracting tourists from all over the world.
Five statues created by world-renowned artist Thomas Dambo will be found around the City to showcase Mandurah's unique estuary environment.
The Trolls in Western Australia project will be launched in December 2021 as part of the City's Restart Mandurah recovery plan.
With an original launch date of October 2020, the trail was seen as an opportunity to provide significant benefit for local business and the Mandurah tourism sector.
However, with the impacts of COVID-19 the project is set to boost international tourism opportunities in Mandurah following the pandemic.
Based on conservative estimates, it is projected that the increased visitor numbers will result in an economic return of almost $8 million in the first year.
The project initiator FORM will also provide opportunities for local community groups, businesses and artists to be engaged in the project.
