A Mandurah man has been refused bail and is facing a spate of charges following a pair of police pursuits through Halls Head and Parklands on Thursday night.
Police spotted a stolen silver Audi A7 being driven along Old Coast Road at about 8.55pm and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated away.
The chase abandoned for safety reasons, but the same vehicle was spotted again just an hour later in Parklands.
Again it is alleged the driver failed to stop and sped off.
A Police Air Wing crew aboard a helicopter was called in and tracked the stolen Audi through several streets before the car crashed into a fence on Banksiadale Gate in Lakelands.
The driver fled on foot towards the shopping centre, and was arrested shortly after by officers from the Regional Operations Group.
The passenger was also arrested nearby after he was located hiding by the Police Air Wing crew.
The driver, a 27-year-old man from Mandurah, has been charged with the following:
- Steal Motor Vehicle
- Aggravated Burglary and Commit
- 2 x Stealing
- 2 x Fail to Stop
- 2 x Reckless Driving (to escape police)
- 2 x No Authority to Drive - Breach of Bail
He was refused bail and appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court yesterday, and is next due to appear in the same court on Friday, December 18.
