The Labor party has no interest investing in the Peel Health Campus (PHC) until the current management contract expires, according to Dawesville MP Zak Kirkup.
In a recent article the Mandurah Mail reported Murray-Wellington MP Robyn Clarke saying "the state government was not prepared to spend billions of dollars on a hospital that is privately run".
This could mean the PHC might not see any more funding from the state government until the Ramsay Health Care contract expires in August 2023.

In parliament, Mr Kirkup said with already long wait times the PHC needed to see investment before 2023.
"2023 is the Labor party's plan before we see any investment into our hospital, and that is simply not good enough," he said.
"With wait times reaching seven year highs we now know the Labor party's plan is to continue to ignore the district of Dawesville, Mandurah, and Murray-Wellington...while people are waiting longer times than ever before in our emergency department and in the backs of ambulances.
"2023 is too long to wait before we see investment into our hospital."
But his Mandurah counterpart, David Templeman, said Ms Clarke's comments on the contract stemmed from frustration with the previous government.
"I think what Robyn Clarke was expressing was her frustration with the previous government," he said.
"What you have to remember before the last election is that the previous government...simply signed a renewal of a contract for five years, which essentially put that hospital on a holding pattern.
"That was a very poor decision from the previous government and they did it just before the last election."

Mr Templeman said more funding into the PHC was a "strong priority" for Labor.
"We are the only government to invest in the Peel Health Campus in the last 10 to 15 years but we know we need a place that caters for the population," he said.
"I can assure the people of Mandurah and certainly the region that it is a very strong priority for us as we lead up to the next election."
