The sixth annual Million Dollar Fish event has begun in the Northern Territory.
The competition has 'fishos' patiently waiting for specially tagged fish (they have been caught, tagged and released) to bite. Catch one of seven specially tagged barramundi to win a million dollars. In total, 125 fish were released across Darwin, Kakadu, Arnhem Land, Katherine and Tiwi with upwards of $10,000 per fish to be won.

Frontline fireworks
The New South Wales Government is thanking frontline workers by offering firefighters and health workers front-row seats to the Sydney midnight fireworks.
Full details have not been released, but designated areas around Mrs Macquarie's Chair, the Opera House and Campbells Cove will be reserved for frontline workers. Anyone else wishing to visit the Sydney CBD on New Year's Eve must either have a permit or tickets to a hospitality venue as health orders will prevent others from dropping in.

Opera at Uluru
Opera Australia will return to Uluru with four performances on 17-19 September 2021.
Some 90 guests will enjoy an opera-filled weekend away in the desert, with the high point being arias from Bizet, Puccini, Rossini and Verdi. Performers will be accompanied by the chamber orchestra and the Field of Light will be the magnificent backdrop.

Women-only photography escape
Boutique tour operator Shutterbug Walkabout will host a female-only photography escape to Flinders Island, Tasmania, with guests staying at the luxury Flinders Island Gourmet Retreat at Cooma House. The five-day tour will run 12-16 April 2021 for just five women, plus a local female photographer-guide.

100 years of Qantas
The story of Qantas's 100-year history is told in a new hardcover book. The Flying Kangaroo by Neil Montagnana-Wallace draws on never-before-seen historic photographs and Qantas' archives. It tells the tale of the evolution of Qantas from a wild idea by two hobbyists to world-renowned airline. This centenary year has been its most turbulent yet, but Qantas will soar again.
