The opening of the region's first not-for-profit café at Edenvale Homestead has reinvigorated Edenvale Tea Rooms and is upskilling disadvantaged youth.
Officially opened on September 24, Edenvale Tea Rooms by Fairbridge WA boasts a new menu featuring local, seasonal produce, and a fresh approach to serving Homestead visitors.
According to Jade Creevey, general manager, Fairbridge WA Inc., Edenvale Homestead is an iconic feature in Pinjarra and Fairbridge is delighted to take over the management of the Tea Rooms.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Fairbridge College, with the café to provide a live training environment for its hospitality students.
Shire President Cr. David Bolt said establishing a quality, fresh food and beverage experience in one of the Shire's premier heritage buildings, is helping to re-position Pinjarra as a food and cultural destination.
"Edenvale Tea Rooms by Fairbridge WA has brought youth training opportunities into Pinjarra, is supporting our local producers and suppliers and is aligned with key Shire economic development, planning and tourism outcomes," Cr. Bolt said.
Operating seven days per week from 8am to 4pm for breakfast, morning and afternoon teas and lunch, the Tea Rooms are managed by head chef Glenn Foy and staffed by work experience students from Fairbridge College and participants in the Leadership Engagement and Development (LED) program.
Visitors to the tea rooms can BYO, with full liquor licence to follow.
The Tea Rooms team have a number of exciting initiatives which they are working to implement including seasonal picnic baskets as well as workshops and pop-up events supported by a network of local and guest artists.
Fairbridge WA have accepted an initial two-year lease with option to extend, assuming responsibility from the Shire of Murray.
