A seven-goal haul from star forward Cody Nelson and a best afield performance from midfielder Zac Moody buoyed South Mandurah to a third consecutive victory with a win over Halls Head on Sunday.
The Falcons could have punished the lightning if it weren't for some wayward kicking in the first half, but they honed their accuracy in the second to run away with the 14.14 (98) to 7.6 (48) win.
South Mandurah was dominating play early and notched nine scoring shots to Halls Head's two in the first term, but scoring just two goals from that barrage of attempts saw them lead by just 17 points at the end of the period.
They kicked a further one goal, five behinds in the second, while Halls Head stacked up two goals of their own with Robert Hutson and Robert Schindler-Taylor effective around the ground.
For all of the Falcons' dominance across the first half, they led by just 15 points at the long break.
But things changed in the third term, when a better conversion rate saw them blow the game open with a hearty six goals, one behind.
Moody and Kyren Gavin were dominant in the middle while Nelson was able to hit the scoreboard.
By the end of the third they had escaped out to a 32-point buffer, a lead they were able to comfortably defend down the stretch.
A further five goals to Halls Head's two in the final term eventually had the margin out to 50 points.
The Falcons will be eager to record a fourth straight win when they take on Rockingham in what looms as an epic contest next Sunday, while Halls Head will sit through a week off with a bye.
