Waroona's cemetery is destined for an upgrade, with the Shire looking to sell land to fund the project.
The Shire recently developed the Drakesbrook Cemetery Master Plan to help manage and develop the cemetery site into the future, including improving parking.
The council at its July meeting approved listing Lot 5 and Lot 6 Mitchell Avenue, Waroona for sale at market value, with the proceeds to be used to fund the cemetery improvements.
"Proceeds from the land sales will allow for the staged implementation of the Drakesbrook Cemetery Master Plan," Shire president Cr Walmsley said.
"Considering the difficult economic times, it is important for the Shire to look at alternative methods to finance projects such as this one."
