Jesse Teinaki's journey on The Voice 2020 has come to an end.
The former tradesman from Somerset had the judges frothing with his "magical" rendition of Cellophane by FKA twigs, but was ultimately beaten by fellow Tasmanian Stellar Perry.
Teinaki opened up about missing his family during rehearsals with his coach, Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem.
"Since I moved to Sydney ... this is the longest I've been without seeing them, because of the pandemic."
His sadness soon turned to surprise as Goodrem whipped out a device to video call his mother.
"She's going to reveal your song!" his coach said.
His mother, reveling in her moment of mischief, slowly revealed a piece of paper with the song title and artist.
"I can't believe you knew and didn't message me," Teinaki protested.
"You'll be right," his mother said.
