The lives of 13 Peel women and their families have now changed for the better, since participating in Safe Woman Safe Family's (SWSF) Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Program.
The free 15-week program is funded by Alcoa's Pinjarra refinery and offered twice a year to women who live locally in the region and have been impacted by family and domestic violence.
SWSF co-founder Tanya Langford said tackling family violence requires many approaches.
"Our approach is to give women an opportunity to understand the negative factors that have impacted their lives and are trapping them in the 'cycle of violence'," she said.
"The program also helps participants create new pathways based on their enhanced self-worth and positivity which works to create safer, brighter futures for themselves and their children."
Ms Langford and a team of SWSF mentors and program participants celebrated the completion of the third round of the unique program in June.
Participants shared stories of personal trauma and their journeys of empowerment and transformation after participating in the program, which aims to guide women in changing negative patterns and self-limiting beliefs and also assists with educational, training and employment referrals.
"Alcoa is proud to support a local organisation that helps women recover from domestic and family violence trauma and equips them with tangible strategies to move forward," Alcoa Pinjarra refinery manager Mark Hodgson said.
"Congratulations to the latest participants who've completed Safe Woman Safe Family's 15-week Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Program.
"What a remarkable achievement they have made. I wish the participants all the best with their future endeavours."
