Since the outbreak of coronavirus there have been mass shutdowns across the work sector but business is booming for hardware stores.
With more time spent at home, people are busy working on those long-overlooked jobs around the house and garden.
According to the Housing Industry Association, the total value of work is projected to increase from $33.2 billion in 2017 to nearly $36 billion in 2020.
Peel Paint Place owner Allan Elliott reported busier than usual weeks, with more people through the doors since social distancing restrictions began.
"Last month our Mandurah and Rockingham stores both had a 30 per cent increase in foot traffic," he said.
"With our customers having no choice but to sit at home they are doing jobs they have been putting off for a long time.
"COVID-19 has definitely impacted our business positively."
Despite offering contactless services in order to uphold social distancing rules, renovation stores are still seeing a large amount of foot traffic.
Larger hardware stores such as Bunnings are seeing so many customers they have lines out the door.
"We offered deliveries or drive-thru services as we have an eftpos machine we can just take out to their cars," Mr Elliott said.
"People appreciated the extra service in the first two weeks of social distancing but now more customers are coming into the store as the fear factor surrounding COVID-19 has dissipated."

With phase two of WA's roadmap out of lockdown starting next week, Mr Elliott said he has seen Peel Paint Place return to some sense of normal.
"We have been busy for the past five weeks but just in the last week we have seen our foot traffic drop off to what is was before COVID-19," he said.
