With all non-essential travel and gatherings banned, and strict social distancing measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, celebrations of all kinds have changed in recent times.
Mandurah couple Brian and Lorraine Woods recently found an alternative way to celebrate their 60th anniversary at Peel Health Campus.
Mr Woods was admitted to hospital for a procedure, but, with coronavirus restrictions in place, the couples' extended family were unable to join them for the festivities.
The couple were surprised by staff at the hospital who presented them with a chocolate cake, flowers and balloons and organised a FaceTime party with their family.
Peel Health Campus chief executive Andrew Tome congratulated the couple personally on the milestone by carrying in the cake.
"It was great to be able to help them celebrate," he said.
"It has been a tough period for most people, including our patients and staff, so we really enjoyed bringing some joy to their special day."

Mr Woods said 60 years of marriage was "really easy".
"You just have to pick the right one," he said.
His daughter-in-law, Heather, who is a nurse at a Perth hospital, thanked staff for organising the party and going "above and beyond" to make sure the couple had a happy wedding anniversary.
As a sign of their gratitude, the Woods family sent the hospital staff cupcakes and a thank you card.
"You are a true reflection of Ramsay Health Care's values - People Caring for People," the card read.
"Your company, the patients and our profession are very lucky to have you."
