A South West pair charged with flouting WA's regional travel restrictions has been accused of distributing drugs and possessing guns, ammo and thousands of dollars in cash after a raid on their home.
The arrest was made by Bunbury Detectives who were investigating criminal activity in the district relating to drug distribution, money laundering, fraud and breaches of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
On April 28, detectives intercepted a Nissan Patrol on the corner of Forrest Highway and Dorsett Road in Lake Clifton.
Police allege the two people in the vehicle circumvented the Wagerup and Lake Clifton regional checkpoints to conduct criminal activity in the Perth metropolitan area.
A police search of the vehicle and search warrants conducted at homes in Australind and Dalyellup, allegedly yielded:
- More than $7,000 in cash,
- About 1 kilogram of Methylamphetamine;
- A Sawn-off shotgun;
- Ammunition;
- About 6 grams of MDMA;
- About 7 grams of cocaine;
- 8 tablets of LSD; and
- About 70 grams of cannabis.
A 48-year-old woman from Australind has been charged with:
- Possessed a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell/supply;
- Carrying an unlicensed firearm and drugs;
- Two counts of possessing ammunition;
- Five counts of possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell/supply;
- Two counts of possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property;
- Possessing drug paraphernalia
- Property laundering;
- Obtaining a financial advantage by deception - Centrelink fraud; and
- Two counts of failing to comply with a direction (breaching travel restrictions).
A 35-year-old man from Dalyellup has been charged with:-
- Possessing a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell/supply;
- Carrying an unlicensed firearm and drugs;
- Possessing ammunition; and
- Two counts of failing to comply with a direction (breaching travel restrictions).
They are due to appear before the Bunbury Magistrates Court today, April 29.
