'Obviously a joke': Wife Basher t-shirt fuels fire of Mandurah domestic violence activist

Krazy Tees owner Anthony Hiscox defended his store after a Halls Head woman contacted the Mandurah Mail to voice concerns over the shirt, which sports a Swan Brewery logo with the phrase "wife basher" printed across the chest.

"Obviously it's a joke," Mr Hiscox said.

"We're certainly not trying to glorify anything - at the end of the day it's a t-shirt, and that's the old nickname for Emu Export.

"We haven't received any formal complaints to the store."

The Halls Head resident, who wished not to be identified, spotted the shirt on display in the store's front window on Sunday morning, labelling it "dreadful".

"Domestic violence is never okay - in fact, it's something that any society should have zero tolerance for," she said.

"To see this t-shirt in a shop front window this week of all weeks, in the face of the Brisbane car fire femicide and those poor children murdered is simply dreadful.

"What type of person would deliberately dress a mannequin in that and put it in the window? It just beggars belief that Krazy Tees would do something like this.

"My friends and I have bought apparel from this shop in the past, and believe me when I say we won't be patronising it again."

Mr Hiscox said the store had no plans to pull the shirt from its racks.
