The Mandurah Concert Band is searching for its next young star with applications for the group's scholarship program now open.
The program began three years ago to encourage younger players to join, providing the successful recipient with entry into the band with no membership fee for the first year.
They are also assigned a mentor to help them with their playing and given lessons when required.
The band holds a music camp at Fairbridge each year, for playing and preparation prior to a competition.
This year the band is taking part in the Australian National Band Championships, which are being held in Perth on the Easter weekend.
The scholarship is aimed at young students from years 7 to 12 who have reached level two of AMEB, ABRSM or equivalent.
Anyone interested in applying for the scholarship can email Tony Schraven on aschraven@bigpond.com or call him on 0414 489 476.
Applications will close on Friday, February 28.
