Police have released the name of the man who died after a boating incident in Mandurah in the early hours of Friday morning.
Daniel Lloyd, 33, died after his small dinghy, skippered by 25-year-old Kyle Hartigan, ran into a channel marker in Peel Inlet near Boundary Island at about 1.15am.
Their boat continued on without anyone on board and was located by Peel Water Police more than five hours later.
The men were rescued by another boater and taken to Mariner's Cove boat ramp, where they were met by police and paramedics.
Mandurah Detectives officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Trevor Troy said the skipper was arrested but released without charge.
Blood samples were taken from both men and the skipper was also breath tested. The tests and items are still being examined by forensic officers.
Detectives have also taken samples from the channel marker that it is believed the boat crashed into.
