The Peel region will take pause to remember those who lost their lives fighting for our country with Remembrance Day services being held across the area this coming Monday.
It was on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when the Germans called for an armistice to end World War I, and 101 years on the traditions that blossomed from that exact moment in time remain close to heart for many Australians.
November 11 then became a day to reflect and honour the lives of those lost while fighting in all wars and conflicts.
So, like all of Australia, Mandurah's residents will reserve a minutes silence to pay their respects to past servicemen and women.
Several different services will be held across the Peel region on the day, including those organised by the Mandurah, Pinjarra and Dawesville RSL sub-branches.
Details are as follows:
Mandurah
Hundreds are expected to flock to the Mandurah War Memorial on the city's western foreshore.
A call to order will be made to open the service at 10.30am, with fellowship to follow at the Mandurah RSL sub-branch's new headquarters at 20/22 Rouse Road.
The sub-branch will also be holding two further services, one at the Mandurah Christ's Church Anglican Parish that will see veterans placing war flags on the graves of passed veterans, and a second that will see school children doing the same at the Mandurah Cemetery.
Pinjarra
The Shire of Murray's main ceremony will see residents attend the Pinjarra War Memorial, with arrival requested at 10.30am for a 10.45am start.
Following the minute of silence and the completion of the service, doors will be opened at the Pinjarra RSL sub-branch's hall just a few doors down.
Dawesville
Those based to the south will be able to attend the service at the Dawesville War Memorial on Estuary Road.
Arrival is set for 10.30am with the ceremony to kick off shortly afterwards.
Following the service the sub-branch will welcome people to their base at the Port Bouvard Sport and Recreation Club.
