Four of Mandurah's darts stars have shown they can mix it with the best amateur players in the country, with the quartet picking up medals in a national competition recently.
The quartet from the Bindjareb Murray Darts Association represented Western Australia at the AusDarts National Championships in Adelaide in September.
It was a special occasion as it was the first time for the Mandurah crew on the national stage - and they did the region proud.
Maurice Heta-Tohu, Sandra Rance, Ryan Howell and Darryl Sharp all returned to the Peel region as Australian champions in their respective divisions.
Mr Heta-Tohu said it was a momentous achievement.
"We are all about the grassroots players - the normal Joe Bloggs that just wants to come and have a game of darts," he said.
"I am really proud of the guys - they weren't put on a pedestal to go out and win, which is what you get pushed in the big competitions.
"Ours is all about fun - they had fun and now they are Australian champions."
AusDarts WA representative Allan Summers agreed with Mr Heta-Tohu and said the Mandurah players had done the region proud.
He also said the group was looking for sponsors to ensure participation at future competitions.
Mr Heta-Tohu said the Bindjareb Murray Darts Association held local tournaments at the Boathouse Tavern in Mandurah each Wednesday, with new players of all abilities welcome.
"Everyone enjoys each others company and there is great camaraderie - that's what darts is all about," he said.
