The Rockingham Rams got a glimpse into a bright future as their colts held steady to claim the 2019 premiership on Saturday morning.
Three goals to Cody O'Donnell and a best afield performance from Jacob Hewitt spurred the Rams past Baldivis for a 9.13 (67) to 7.9 (51) victory.
It's a sweet reward for the Rockingham youngsters, who suffered losses in the previous two colts grand finals going down to South Mandurah in 2017 and Pinjarra the following year.
A hot start had the Rams on the right path early, as promising forward prospect O'Donnell slotted his first to open the game.
Baldivis fought hard but came unstuck when an undisciplined play saw a free kick reversal rob them of a shot on goal, as Rockingham fired down the other end with Connor Opperman booting a goal as reward for his outstanding work in the early stages.
But the Brumbies came storming into the frame on the back a stunning Sascha Vaughan cameo in the second.
The crafty forward nailed three goals to will his side back into the contest, with Riley Warwick in great form around the ground.
Two of Vaughan's three for the term came in the opening minutes, as Baldivis took the lead before Liam Pember restored it for the Rams.
Rockingham's James Wiltshire was proving prolific, but it was Vaughan nailing another to keep the Brumbies afloat.
Just one point separated the two in the dying stages of the first half, but Hewitt launched a bomb on the run from distance to nail a goal that gave the Rams momentum heading into the break.
The third quarter would go on to be the difference, with Rockingham keeping their opponents to zero goals while Jake Willis, Kalieb Larsen and O'Donnell all bagged majors to give their side a handy 29-point buffer.
The Brumbies looked to have dropped off at three quarter time, but found some energy to give one final push in the fourth quarter.
Unfortunately, a series of three missed set shots early in the term derailed their comeback efforts, as Willis nailed the first of the quarter to all but seal the deal on the premiership victory.
Tempers flared late in the game with a series of yellow cards being shown, but the damage was done as Rockingham romped to a colts grand final win.
Hewitt's heroics throughout the game saw him rewarded the best afield medal.
