A red-hot first quarter helped Halls Head avoid taking home this season's wooden spoon award, as they toppled South Mandurah 20.9 (129) to 9.6 (60) on Sunday afternoon.
The Lightning put in nine first-quarter goals while keeping the Falcons scoreless for the period, paving their path to the win.
Greg Nelson was the engineer of his side's rapid scoring in the first as he nailed four goals for the term, while Liam Lockley bagged two and Robert Falkstrom, Mitchell Jones and Jared Middleton also hit the scoreboard.
By quarter time the Lightning led by a whopping 56 points, and Nelson bagged his fifth early in the second before Callum Dews gave South Mandurah their first.
To their credit the Falcons conjured a ripping four-goal run as a response in the second, but two goals to Cleve Humphries kept Halls Head comfortably in front at half time.
From there they were able to pile three more goals onto their lead in the third, before a high-scoring fourth term led them to a 69-point victory.
The win sees the Lightning finish their season in sixth on the ladder, while the Falcons unfortunately end the year in bottom spot.
Both sides will now enter the off-season before returning to the track in the new year.
