Meadow Springs Education Support Centre (ESC) launched their Positive Behaviour Support program on June 27.
The school community gathered to celebrate the two years of hard work leading up to the launch to develop a whole school approach to behaviour management.
As part of the program, the school will turn their focus from rules and the possible consequences for breaking the rules, to a number of particular behaviour expectations for all staff and students.
The school community at Meadow Springs ESC selected three simple positive behaviour expectations to be applied in all aspects of daily lives:
- I am safe.
- I try my best.
- I am respectful.
The event celebrated the program with student artworks showcasing characters linked to each positive behaviour expectation, which are based around the kangaroos on site at the school.
Staff and students also put together a video clip with teachers displaying negative behaviours while students engaged in positive behaviours.
The entertaining video was well received by the school community with plenty of laughs from the audience.
Former Lakelands Primary School principal and current South Metro region assistant district director Jim Bell also attended and commended the students for their attentiveness and engagement.
Everyone in attendance received a special show bag and enjoyed cakes and treats.
