I also had the pleasure of visiting the Empyrean Training Café at the Mandurah City Football Club to experience the hospitality of the highly talented students completing various hospitality courses.
With nominations for the 2019 Alcoa Peel Business Excellence Awards now closed, over 200 nominees are busy completing their submissions, due June 28.
To close the month, the Chamber's board held its monthly meeting in the Pinjarra Courthouse; the Great Chamber Soiree on May 24 at Catch 22 Tapas and Cocktail Lounge was attended by over 120 guests dressed to the nines; and we had the May business After Hours hosted by the super fun Chipmunks Mandurah.
The Chamber is continuing our advocacy efforts in the fight to save our taxi service.
We have also raised the issue of the urgent need for upgrade and expansion works required for the Peel Health Campus with the Minister for Health; and finally the 'tax on jobs' (payroll tax) and its hindrance on business growth.
The Parliamentary Secretary received the message loud and clear - as the GST share goes up, payroll tax must also increase.
