Mandurah's top cop has thanked the community for their assistance after a handful of local crimes were recently solved with the help of the public.
The Mandurah Mail and Mandurah District Police regularly appeal to the public for information by sharing CCTV pictures, to assist officers in their open criminal investigations.
In one recent case, police say an anonymous female tipped off police with information, which helped to identify a man who allegedly stole from Mandurah Central Pharmacy.
It's important as a community that we stand together against those who do the wrong thing.
- Mandurah District Senior Sergeant Darren Hart
The 29-year-old Mandurah man has been charged and is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on June 26.
A 29-year-old Mandurah female was also charged with stealing and is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on same day, after a separate anonymous female assisted police by identifying the alleged offender.
A 36-year-old Mandurah man and a 46-year-old Dawesville woman have been charged with disorderly conduct and stealing and will appear in court at a later date, after police received public information that helped to identify the alleged offenders.
And lastly, a public tip-off resulted in a 37-year-old Mandurah woman being charged with two counts of fraud.
Mandurah District Senior Sergeant Darren Hart said information from the public is "often critical" in solving crimes.
"Police officers won't always be able to identify the person in security footage, but someone who knows them will usually realise it's them as soon as they look at the picture," he said.
"Passing that info on to police can often save us a heap of time but also may be the difference between that crime being solved or not.
"It's important as a community that we stand together against those who do the wrong thing."
