A Singleton pet owner has been fined $2000 plus costs after his 'dangerous dog' was not wearing a muzzle, collar and the man had not displayed required warning signs at his home.
Tor Kristian Romsloe, 45, was convicted in his absence in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday after failing to properly display dangerous dog warning signs at his home, and ensure his American Staffordshire Terrier, 'Loki', wore and appropriate collar and a muzzle.
'Loki' was declared a dangerous dog by the City of Rockingham on May 24, 2018.
City of Rockingham prosecutor Alan Bedwell told the court rangers were conducting a routine inspection at the property, as part of dangerous dog requirements, on June 21, 2018.
Mr Bedwell said Romsloe was not home at the time, but rangers noticed there was no warning sign at the home, and Loki was running around in the back yard with no collar or muzzle.
Magistrate Anne Longden told the court there "is a community interest in people with dangerous dogs, doing the right thing".
Romsloe was ordered to pay a $2000 fine with $494.90 costs.
