The Waroona Demons brought their six-game losing streak to a grinding halt when they conquered the Mandurah Mustangs with a 13.11 (89) to 11.6 (72) victory at Parnell Street Oval on Saturday.
The other side of the ledger doesn't look so sweet for the Mustangs though, as they suffered their fourth straight defeat.
It was a first-half blitz that saw the Demons set up their second win of the season, as they romped to a sizable lead at the long break.
Spurred on by stellar efforts from Bailey Taylor and Mat Thomas, the Demons conjured five goals in the first term to set themselves on the right path.
But it was the second term that saw them seize control as they increased their 16-point quarter time lead to a stunning 43 points on the back of four unanswered goals for the term.
Solid efforts from Daniel Cransberg and Nathan Thomas saw Mandurah fire back in the second half, however, as they piled up five goals to cut the home side's lead to just 26 points at the final change.
But the buffer remained an unassailable one, with the Mustangs' three-goal finish not enough to spur them over the line.
The victory sees Waroona move to a 2-6 record, equal with both Halls Head and South Mandurah.
All three of those sides remain just one win outside the top five, with Mandurah's fourth loss on the trot seeing them dip to a 3-5 record.
The Mustangs will need to beat the league-leading Rockingham to snap their skid next week, while Waroona goes up against the in-form Centrals.
