A five-goal haul from Blaine Johnson and another best afield performance from Josh Branchi saw the Baldivis Brumbies fend off a strong finishing Centrals outfit for an 11.8 (74) to 13.6 (84) win at Baldivis Oval on Sunday.
Baldivis shot out of the blocks notching the first two goals of the game before Ben Strickland returned serve for Centrals.
The Brumbies led by 20 points following an impressive first quarter, before both sides picked up their scoring in the second term.
Centrals booted four as they attempted to mount a response, but the Brumbies bagged a further five of their own with Branchi dominating around the stoppages.
By the half time break Baldivis led by four goals, but a strong third period saw the Blues storming back into the contest.
Callum Collard, Ryan Henley, Jacob Martinez, Chase Garlett and Zaine Atwell all were among the goals in the third as the visitors cut the lead to just 12 points with a quarter to go.
But Baldivis managed to level the contest in the final term, surviving the challenge to take home an impressive 10-point win.
The victory buoys Baldivis to a game clear of the Blues, setting up a tantalising clash against Rockingham in round seven.
Meanwhile Centrals will look to bounce back when they take on Pinjarra in a grand final rematch.
