RSPCA WA will host a community action day in Mandurah next week.
The events are held in areas where there are animal welfare concerns and offer free health checks, pet supplies and advice for pet owners.
The Mandurah Mail reported last year that Mandurah was included in WA's top animal cruelty 'hot spots', while over 1000 dog attacks were recorded in the city over a five-year period.

The community action day, sponsored by the City of Mandurah, aims to address the amount of animal cruelty in the area.
People can bring their dogs for free health checks, but the pets must be vaccinated and on a leash at all times. Cats are not able to attend due to welfare concerns.
Pet food and flea, tick and worm treatments will be available free of charge and free micro-chipping is also on offer if needed.
RSPCA WA inspectors, City of Mandurah rangers and a dog trainer will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice.
RSPCA WA chief executive Iain Torrance said community action days were a good way for pet owners to learn more about animal welfare.
"Mandurah regularly records a high volume of cruelty complaints, and we know that financial stress can be a contributing factor," he said.
"Our community action days aim to ease the burden for pet owners by providing practical support and guidance in responsible pet ownership.
"The free services available at the event will immediately improve the wellbeing of pets who come along on the day; while giving us the opportunity to talk to the local community about broader welfare issues concerning their pets.
"I encourage anyone who is struggling to afford the basics, or whose pet hasn't been to the vet in a while, to come along.
"There's no judgement. RSPCA WA and our partner organisations are just here to help owners to help their animals."
The event will take place on Thursday, May 23 from 12.30pm to 3pm at Rushton Park North on Dower Street.
