Disgruntled Australian Workers Union members have rejected a third offer from Alcoa over a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), as the standoff between the multinational company and a sizeable percentage of its WA staff continues.
Negotiations over a new deal for employees have been ongoing for almost two years, with things coming to a head in August 2018.
AWU members from Alcoa's facilities at Pinjarra, Kwinana, Wagerup, Huntly and Willowdale took industrial action against the company, spending 52 days on strike, before returning to work in September.
The union has been pushing for a new EBA that protects its members' rights, but no agreement has been forthcoming.
In the latest twist, a third offer from Alcoa has been rejected, the union confirmed on Saturday.
As such, time is not on the AWU's side, as workers will be forced to accept drastically depleted terms in July after the Fair Work Commission terminated the previous agreement back in December.
Negotiations between Alcoa and the AWU are expected to continue as a compromise that is workable for both parties is sought.
