More than 100 keen lawn bowlers will grace the turfs at the Halls Head and Port Bouvard bowling clubs for the 23rd Australasian Fire Services Bowling Carnival early next month.
The competition will see former fire brigade personnel and associated members converging on the two clubs for five days of competition with singles, doubles and fours tournaments on the schedule.
Held every 18 months, the carnival - more commonly known as the "Firies carnival" - sees competitors from across Australia and New Zealand go head-to-head as they represent their state or nation.
Carnival director and Halls Head Bowling Club member Mick O'Halloran said the event was a prestigious one for the clubs to be hosting.
"We're really proud to be hosting this, it's going to be great for both clubs," he said.
"The City of Mandurah has been great help and to have 100 bowlers and 60 partners flooding into town will be good for local businesses.
"It's going to be an exciting carnival with some quality bowls being played."
Players will hit the greens for day one on Sunday, March 3, with games being played across the week until finals wrap up the tournament at Halls Head on Friday, March 8.
Following the carnival, the Halls Head Bowling Club will hold their greens lighting ceremony on Saturday, March 9, with all four of the club's turf to be lit up on the night.
