South Mandurah product Brianna Moyes will miss the remainder of the AFL Women's season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during her debut for Fremantle on Saturday.
The Peel Football and Netball League star unfortunately exited the win against Collingwood in the first quarter, taking no further part in her first game at the AFLW level.
AFLW high performance manager Kate Starre said it was tough to see any player suffer an injury, particularly a season ending one.
“Brianna has worked so hard to get to the point where she could make her debut, so for her to be injured in the first quarter was obviously devastating to see,” Starre told the club's website.
“She will undergo surgery and following that we will work closely with her on a rehab program to get her back on her feet.
“The whole club is behind her.”
Moyes was recruited to Fremantle via the rookie draft last year, following an outstanding season with South Mandurah in the inaugural PFNL Women's campaign.
