The Mandurah Netball Association’s junior sides all enjoyed wins in round two of Netball WA’s Metro League on Friday night.
The Mandurah Waves’ under 18s and under 14s side both opened their accounts following losses in the competition’s inaugural round last week, while the association’s under 16s remain undefeated following back-to-back wins.
A dominant performance helped the Waves’ 18s register their first win of the campaign, as they dismantled their rival Rockingham Districts Netball Association to the tune of 16 points with a 42-26 victory.
Meanwhile their under 16s were able to come away with an 11-point win over Perth, toppling the inner-city squad 23-34 to move into third on the ladder as one of three undefeated teams through two rounds.
The under 14s also beat Perth, managing to sneak into the top four as they bounced back from their opening loss with a 31-20 win over their opponents.
Unfortunately, the Mandurah Waves and Peel Cavaliers open sides weren’t quite so lucky.
The Waves suffered defeat at the hands of the Kalamunda and Districts Netball Association, going down 53-45 in a close, eight-goal affair, while Peel had their score doubled going down 56-28 to Perth.
The Cavaliers were more gallant in defeat than the scoreboard suggests, holding the lead for most of the first quarter.
A neck-and-neck first half saw Perth head into the main break clutching a narrow lead, but the game opened up late with Peel struggling to catch up to their rampant opponents.
The loss sees Peel slip to the foot of the division one ladder, with the team looking to bounce back when they take on Wanneroo Districts.
