A 56-year-old Mandurah man has been charged with the murder of a man located at a Cooper Street property on Friday afternoon.
The 23-year-old victim’s body was located in a rear shed of the vacant Mandurah property.
On Sunday, the 56-year-old man was arrested and charged.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court today.
Acting inspector Karen Santoro said police were called to a report of a man sleeping in a shed at the address about 11.30am on Friday.
"Police attended and as a result officers located a 23-year-old male deceased.
“The identity of the male has been established.
“The person who found him was a visitor to the property that is not known to the deceased.
“At this stage it is too early in the investigation to comment on injuries but that is part of the investigation.”
Acting inspector Santoro would not comment on whether police had attended the property in the recent past. She said the property was vacant, but would not confirm if the deceased man was squatting there.
She said the man’s identity would be released in due course and it was unclear how long he had been deceased for before he was found.
