A resident in Mandurahs southern suburbs has expressed distaste at the volume of household waste dumped on roadsides and walkways ahead of the annual verge collection.
From tyres to mattresses, a couch and a microwave, litter was dumped in several area throughout Erskine recently.
Local resident Rod Caunter said the suburb had encountered the issue for several years and that it seemed to be getting worse.
We have a problem in Erskine with household litter being dumped on the verges and walkways, he said.
City of Mandurah chief executive officer Mark Newman said the local government conducted two green waste and one junk and metals verge collection each year.
The local community is advised to place items for collection on the verge no more than seven days before the collection date and that infringements could be issued to residents not doing the right thing, he said.
Residents are informed about verge collection requirements via the Waste and Recycling Guide which is issued to all properties, advertisements in both local papers and on the [City of Mandurahs] website.
The local community is encouraged to report any issues to Rangers and the [City of Mandurah], Mr Newman said.
